December 13

So its been awhile since we've posted. I (Kevin) have been busy around the apartment keeping it cleaning and taking care of Kindra when she doesn't feel good. Kindra had a couple rough months, but the last two weeks she's been much better. Healthy is good this time of year. We are gearing up for a nice vacation and time with family over the holidays. My parents and sisters are coming out to Council Bluffs, then we will head to Ottumwa to visit Kindra's family. After that, we will most likely head to Iowa City so we can get ready for our trip to Tampa and the Outback Bowl. One perk of working with the band is a free trip to a bowl game when we go to one. This year really turned around after the Penn State win. Our confidence was awesome and we finally put it all together. We will get back on the 1st and then either head to Grinnell for a couple days or go back to Ottumwa for a wedding. Once the wedding is over, we will head back home. We are still praying that God has a plan for us to move back towards home. Our lease is up in July '09, but right now I'm just trying to get feelers out there even though the economy is really bad. Whatever happens, it is meant to be. Its really hard being far away from home. It can be done though. Merry Christmas to all.

October 12

Hi all. We just got back from a weekend trip to Indiana. We were there with the UI band as we traveled to Iowa's away game against the Hoosiers. Great game. It looked like a totally different team. A big question remains. Will this be a sign for the rest of the season and have we turned the corner? I'm hoping yes on the latter. Stanzi looked comfortable and the defense continued its magnificent year to date. Great play calling as well.

Not much else going on. We have family coming in tomorrow and then we are in Cedar Rapids this weekend for my mother's birthday. Also, my interview at Berthel is fast approaching and I continue to pray for this. I'm not concerned that they won't like me or won't bring me on, rather will it be enough for us financially. So continue to pray for that. Anyways, take care.

last weekend

So last weekend was a hit....actually it was un-eventful. Kindra was extremely sick. She couldn't keep anything down at all. Now I realize she is dealing with morning sickness. We determined that she had a flu bug from work too. Nothing was working though, not crackers, nor soup or Sprite. Finally, last night (Sun.) she was feeling better and tomorrow she will go back to work. We did buy a couple of baby things. A pack 'n play for $50 and a nice dresser/changing table for $85. It was an investment. We probably saved $300 or so given that new items would have cost over $400 b/w the two.

It was rough staying at home, but I do love taking care of Kindra. That's why I signed on the dotted line!! hehe. No, really though, I do love her. We watched a lot of football and baseball and I couldn't believe the futility this weekend. Iowa lost, the Red Sox lost, the Brewers lost, heck even Nebraska lost...wait, we wanted them to lose. It was bad though, and also the Packers lost. And then just throw out the Fantasy league I'm in and the Pick 'em league I run. This weekend we are going to beautiful Indiana where the Hawkeyes hope to turn or right the ship in Bloomington. The band goes to one road game per year, minus the Iowa State trip the years we play them in Ames. Going to Indiana will mark the 8th Big Ten stadium that I've visited since I've been involved with the marching band since 1998. Only Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State stand in my way. I suspect if I stick with it next year, I will cross off another one.

In other news...I have contacted one of my friends from high school and her dad is the CEO of Berthel Fisher in Marion, and I have scheduled an on campus meeting with a recruiter there later this month. This would be an answered prayer as our families live in Eastern Iowa. We probably wouldn't live in Cedar Rapids but maybe Iowa City or Coralville. We found out that there is a medicare position for Kindra at Vangent in Iowa City should she choose to pursue that. That position would be courtesy of one of my college friends who works there. We'll just have to see and continue to pray for this. It would save us a lot of money to just move back to the East side of the state. Its a lead...we'll see where it goes.

I think that's it.

This weekend

So I guess I'll (Kevin) start the posting on our blog. It was our first weekend home in September. The Hawks had 3 straight home games to start the season and this was their first away game. I guess it didn't pay off cause the Hawks dropped their game to Pitt. I'm frustrated that Iowa can't get it together on the road. The past 2 years it seems like they are scared to play on the road. On top of that we have a huge issue with our QB's. Just please give it to Stanzi. He may make a bunch of mistakes but at the end of the season he'll be more mature at the position than Christensen will ever be. And what is up with our offensive play calling? Utterly disgusted with all the passing.....ugh, I could go on.

We cleaned up our closet a bit today (Sunday) and are getting our spare room ready for our baby. Even though it's 7 months away, it'll make things easier when that time comes. It will also make things easier when we move next summer. We also had dinner with a family from our new church in Gretna. They are hilarious and we hope to make good friends with them in the future. Its good to know people your age.

I hope this week goes better at work. The market went crazy last week and it made for a crazy week. I felt like a ping pong ball just getting smacked with everything going on. Anyways, someone needs to give me a tutorial on this blog. Janese, anything you can do to help. How do you read or subscribe to other blogs for instance. Any assistance would help. Hope everyone else is doing good. Catch ya later.
